Privacy practices for Scanned Maker, the browser-based PDF scanning tool.
Scanned Maker Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 22 October 2025
Scanned Maker is built with privacy as our core principle. This policy explains our commitment to protecting your data and what information we handle when you use our service at scannedmaker.com ("Service").
1. Core principles
- No document uploads – PDF processing happens in your browser. We never receive the contents of your files.
- No accounts – you do not need to register or provide personal details to use the Service.
- Minimal analytics – optional telemetry, when enabled, helps us understand aggregate usage without identifying you.
2. Information we don’t collect
We do not collect or store:
- the PDFs or images you process,
- text extracted from your documents,
- user-generated presets or configuration files,
- personal identifiers such as names, email addresses, or IPs (beyond what our hosting provider records in access logs).
3. Information we may process
Local browser storage
Your browser may store local settings and preferences (such as theme or recently used scan settings) using browser storage (localStorage/IndexedDB). These values:
- Stay entirely on your device
- Are never transmitted to our servers
- Can be cleared at any time via your browser settings
- Are not accessible to us or any third parties
Hosting logs
Scanned Maker is deployed on Vercel infrastructure. Standard web server logs (timestamp, IP address, user agent) are automatically captured for:
- Platform security and stability
- DDoS protection
- Performance monitoring
These logs:
- Are subject to Vercel's Privacy Policy
- Do not contain your document contents
- Are retained for a limited period
- Cannot identify specific users
No analytics or tracking
We have made the deliberate choice to not implement any analytics on Scanned Maker:
- ❌ No Google Analytics
- ❌ No tracking pixels
- ❌ No cookies for tracking
- ❌ No usage metrics collection
- ❌ No behavioral tracking
Your usage of Scanned Maker is completely private and unmonitored.
Support requests
If you contact us by email at [email protected]:
- We receive only what you choose to share (contact details, screenshots, descriptions)
- Information is used solely to respond to your request
- We do not share or sell your contact information
- You may request deletion of your support correspondence at any time
4. Third-party services
Scanned Maker operates independently without third-party integrations during document processing. External links (if any) to documentation or resources are clearly marked, and each external service has its own privacy policy.
5. Data security
Your document security is our top priority:
Browser-based processing:
- All PDF processing happens locally in your browser
- Documents are never uploaded to our servers
- Files remain on your device throughout the entire process
- No network transmission of document contents
Technical safeguards:
- All communication with the Service uses HTTPS encryption
- Access to deployment infrastructure is restricted
- No document storage on our servers (because documents never reach them)
- Regular security updates and monitoring
Your responsibility:
- Keep your browser updated for latest security patches
- Use trusted networks when processing sensitive documents
- Clear browser cache if using shared devices
- Enable disk encryption on your device for maximum security
6. Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed to individuals under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective Date” and post the new policy here. Your continued use of the Service after changes go into effect means you accept the updated policy.
8. Your rights
